I woke up to torrential rain pounding above my head on my roof. I was breathless and I vividly remember the dream I was having before I woke. I was caught in a tornado. The sky was black, the winds were vicious and I couldn’t find my family. I was searching for my daughter and my husband. I found the brother I had been raised with and then the grandmother who had been an important part of my life appeared in the eye of the tornado. My grandmother had passed away many years ago so why was she in the eye of a tornado?
I began to count all of my siblings. I couldn’t count fast enough to make sure I found them. There were too many. I was being swept away and I couldn’t find my family. My family was too big for me to keep them all safe.
I couldn’t go back to sleep.
Happy Mother’s Day
